MCI Drill - Mass Casualty Incident Drill
Def: Any incident that requires more resources than the local
agency has available.
Scenario: Boiler explosion in an office building. Our
new building was used, as many of our mutual aid departments are not familiar
with the layout and were required to do a true room by room search for all the
victims. Approximately 15-20 victims were placed in the building, with various
injuries. A fog machine provided the zero visibility to make it realistic. In
addition, the fire alarm system was tripped, as if it was a real event.
We want to thank our mutual aid departments for participating
in this drill (Putnam Valley Fire, Garrison Ambulance, Mahopac Falls Ambulance,
Alamo EMS, Stat-Flight). We all learn from practice.
