MCI Drill
April 29th, 2001
Background: This was a county wide drill, all departments
in the county (and bordering departments in surrounding counties) were made
aware of the drill, but no details as to the scenario, location, or injuries
prior to the actual event.
Scenario: Mid-Air Collision of 2 airplanes, One
large passenger aircraft, and 1 small aircraft. The initial dispatch was toned
out on the other side of the county in Carmel N.Y. where the larger aircraft
crashed (Pics of the Carmel scene can be found at www.pcbes.org).
About 10 minutes later, Putnam Valley Fire & Ambulance was toned out to the
2nd aircraft crashing in our district. Both scenes contained multiple patients
and Hazardous Materials. Below are some pictures of the scene in Putnam
Valley. A 2nd Drill is scheduled on May 22nd, 2001 to further enhance our
response to these type of emergencies.
